I bought a 6 week old Pom July 4th of this year. So she is apx 4 months old. Her coat is still very sparse. I’ve read online that it takes them a while to get their adult coats but it seems like it should be more full by this point, especially with the cold weather starting.
I’ve been putting her in puppy pj’s because she seemed cold but now Im concerned that maybe Im causing her coat not to grow.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Don’t stress. Your puppy is going through the “Puppy Uglies”. This perfectly normal and putting clothes on your Pomeranian will not prevent the new coat from coming in. ”
Your Pomeranian will go through numerous changes in his or her coat throughout the years. Owners, new to this dog breed often don’t realise the fluffy, puppy coat generally starts to fall out when the Pomeranian is around four months of age. Puppy’s legs get tall and gangly, his coat becomes short and wispy. Frequently, different areas of the puppy’s body will grow faster than other parts and your pup may appear a little odd looking for a few weeks.
This period is actually referred to as the Pomeranian puppy “uglies” or puppy transition. The majority of puppies have to go through this awkward phase of puppy adolescence. Don’t be anxious as your ugly duckling will change into a swan at 9 to 10 months of age. ” From the Pomeranian Book

To purchase a Pomeranian which will be small sized as an adult only purchase from a SHOW Pomeranian Breeder. A puppy purchased from a SHOW breeder will be bred to conform closely to the Pomeranian breed standard including size. The U.S. Pom Breed Standard is 3 to 7 lb. which is a small dog. No the Pomeranian only comes in ONE size. Read the Pomeranian Breed Standards for more information.
“Weight – is from 3 to 7 pounds with the ideal weight for show specimens being 4 to 6 pounds. Any dog over or under the limits is objectionable; however, overall quality should be favored over size.” From the American Pomeranian Breed Standard.

Pomeranians enjoy the company of children, but owing to the small size and fragility of a young Pomeranian puppy, it is recommended that families with children under 12 years of age purchase a Pomeranian puppy over the age of 6 months.

Pomeranians are such a big part of your family that you’ll find it tough to leave them at home when you go on vacation. That means you’ll need to plan how to occupy their time and keep them safe whether they’re in a car, on a plane, at a hotel, on the beach or in any other place that’s out of their comfort zone.

No matter where you’re heading, your Pomeranian has to be protected. Initially, it’s a good idea to take him to the veterinarian just to be certain he’s in fine health for travelling. He may need booster shots, too.

When there are holidays, you may enjoy having dinner parties for family and friends. One factor you need to consider is your Pomeranian. Pets are usually treated as members of the family and should be able to have some involvement in such days.

Dogs are best managed when they have routines to follow as much as possible. Just because there may be a big event going on, that’s no excuse to avoid taking him for his daily walk or he may misbehave later, when it’s least desired. READ MORE….
